How to backdate or schedule a post in a Word Press website

One of my responsibilities in my current job is to update the company website. This issue of backdating and scheduling is something new to me as far as Word Press goes so I decided to try it out and write about it for further reference.

To backdate a post
To backdate a post, you simply set a past date. One thing to remember, though, is that even if you set the date for a year back it will go out on the RSS feed to anyone who has signed up for your blog posts.
  • Where the post says Publish/Status select edit
  • Just below the words ‘Publish immediately’, another line of info showing dates will open.
  • Set the date to your preferred date

To schedule a post in advance:
  • Create your post.
  • On the right hand side, find the “Publish” box again.
  • Look for ‘Publish Immediately’ and once again select a future date.
The blue Publish button will become a blue Schedule button – click on this to schedule your post.
It’s as easy as that!
