Our Grade 2 weather project 2010
In Grade 2 the children learn about the seasons and weather as part of their curriculum. Our three Grade 2 classes were invited by a teacher in Switzerland to participate in a Grade 2 ‘Weather around the world’ project along with 11 other Grade 2 classes around the world. (2010) This involved us thinking about what questions we would like to know, taking photos to show our weather, discussing the reasons for different weather in different countries, and comparing findings. We used Skype to communicate with other classes. The final findings were put onto Voicethreads, and we are in the process of making another Voicethread summarising our own findings. Read more here...
Our Grade 5 Monster Project 2010
This year Mrs Beagley's class is involved in a global literacy and technology project called 'The Monster Project' (with Mrs Beal in the computer handling the computer technology side). Are you wondering what the 'Monster Project' is all about? Well, 38 classes from around the world are collaborating in building monsters, reading and writing monster stories, telling monster jokes and more. Each class had to write in with a photo and a brief description about themselves. This is what we wrote about Grade 5B. Read more here
Our Winter Olympics project 2010
The Grade 6s participated in an online project about the Winter Olympics held in Canada earlier this year (2010). 56 schools from around the world participated in the project and uploaded their information to a wiki set up by a teacher in Canada. The name of the wiki is 2010 Olympics, and it can be found at http://2010olympics.wikispaces.com/. To find Fish Hoek Primary's section, follow these instructions: Read more here...

Our Paying it Forward Project 2011
The Grade 5Bs and I have been involved in a project called PAYING IT FORWARD (2011). The project is recorded on a Wiki called 'Paying It Forward' created by Mrs Beal. (http://paying-it-forward-project.wikispaces.com/) On this wiki you will notice that five other schools have joined us in this project, and they will be uploading their information soon. The class that is busy with this Paying It Forward project is a Grade 5 class at Fish Hoek Primary School. Here is a picture of the class with their teacher in their classroom. The teacher responsible for the project is the computer teacher, Fiona Beal, who worked with the class teacher Mrs Gail Beagley in setting up the project. Read more here
